Overall Facility Management business is one that is learnt through experience and solving the initial struggles and challenges to me has been an ultimate learning experience she echoes.

Before kick-starting Carewel Facilities, Bharathi worked with the Taj Group and Welcom Group of Hotels. Having done management training with Taj Group of Hotels Bharathi was heading the Housekeeping wing of Taj in Varanasi and Bangalore and later joined ITC Welcom Group of Hotels in Bangalore. With the experience of over 12 years in the hospitality line, it felt pretty obvious to Bharathi to step into the role of an entrepreneur,  thus she initially started Carewel as a Housekeeping Service provider.

Today Carewel has evolved into a comprehensive facility management service provider.

Overcoming the Challenges on Her Way-

“The initial period was not easy, but it set the foundation to what we are and where we are today.”

In the initial stages, Bharathi struggled in several aspects such as working capital, client acquisition, organizational procedures and government regulations. Since the company was founded over 20 years ago, it was a time when the industry was not easy for women-entrepreneurs to get a firm grounding. She had to face a difficult set of circumstances to adapt to she says.

Carewel was started at a time when a large number of multi-national companies had just entered the Indian market and started working with local vendors for the outsourcing of non-core business. It was a challenge learning and adapting to the ways of the new business culture and providing the services needed within the framework expected by the client.

In today’s scenario of pandemics in the last two years, the crisis has been a period which has honed one’s skill to be patient, adapt to changing circumstances and move on.

It is the ability to accept the new norm and integrate with the deliverables while maintaining quality which should be one strong point which can be attributed to the success of any business. To address and tackle the strong headwind of change one should be resilient which should be the guiding principle.
