Kindly brief us about your professional journey and what kind of ethics, principles and manner of working you observe while managing the business operations?
Finance plays a crucial role in every industry. It is indeed one of the most essential facility needed by businesses worldwide. The understanding to handle the financial growth is not everyone’s cup of tea. This is exactly where CFOs help in enlightening businesses with quintessential information. Aglaia Capital is one company, which provides businesses with CFO services. The company is centered on the theme to provide corporate financial advisory and services.
In an interview with Business Iconic, and Ángela Álvarez share her thoughts and sheds some light on its services. Below are the highlights of the interview.
- Being a successful business leader, what difficulties and challenges do you face? What keeps you motivated?
Serendipity has been a constant in my professional and vital path. Every challenge that I have faced have brought a new beginning, or something more aligned with my interests. I am facing many challenges every day, that I am seeing as a part of my growth process. I usually focus my attention and energy on the new instead of looking back, and many challenges that have appeared along this path, I have converted into means for advancing in my growth process.
Being an entrepreneur is a challenge itself that gives you the opportunity to express your vision. When you start that process it is needed resilience, purpose, passion and a vision, all of that as well as a dose of serendipity and some wonderful people that I found along my path drove me when I am now.
My drive comes from a determined convincement of contributing in changing the industries where I have developed my professional career, by contributing in solving some of the issues that I have found. I believe in a way of doing business, based on ethics, balance, transparency, and trust, and values that also constitutes the essence of my company, such as innovation, sustainability, integrity, diversity, and impact to make a better world.
- Brief us about the CEO/Founder of the company.
Ángela Álvarez is the Founder and CEO of Aglaia Capital. She has developed her professional career chairing executive international positions, and Boards in big entities and global banks, in Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Investment Banking, mainly focus in the Financial, Real Estate, Hotels, Restructuring and Alternative Financing sectors, as well as in Fintech Blockchain that attracted her interest years ago as a way to solve most of the issues that found in her industry.
She founded her company Aglaia Capital with a view of combining traditional Corporate Finance with Blockchain, and recently founded also Aglaia Capital DeFi Platform, a Permissioned Blockchain Platform deployed in the Ethereum Blockchain, with a particular focus on tokenizations of securities, and digital assets, which completes the offering of a new generation Corporate Finance, Alternative Investments and Private Capital Markets. She has an affiliate company, a Private Office and Corporate Finance boutique in London. Speaker at Economic Forums, active in the international M&A, Fintech and Blockchain space, passionate about decentralised technologies and cooperation business models, Featured as Top Fintech Influencer, Top Women Leaders, To CEOs, and Elite league of innovative entrepreneurs, among others, as well as being awarded and her company with some innovation and other excellence awards since its inception.
- What are the different products and services offered by Company?
Aglaia Capital have two main areas. One, focus on advisory Corporate Finance, M&A and Private Equity, focused on selected niche funds and investors, off-market deals, mainly in Spain and Europe, selectively in other geographies, specialised in Financing structures, Hotels, Real Estate. Financing structures for Real Estate and Corporates, as well as off-market deals on Hotels, or Real Estate and Distressed Assets have been our core, which we are continuing adapting according to the situations.
The second area is focused on Fintech, Blockchain, and Digital Assets, providing also advisory on the token generating events, covering also the legal and technical area through our affiliated teams.
Addressing the whole cicle of the operative with digital assets, we are about to launch our platform for tokenisations, based on decrentralised finance Aglaia Capital DeFi Platform, mainly focused on digitalisation of securities, deployed in the Ethereum Blockchain. This Platform for tokenisations is the result of the evolution of the traditional Corporate Finance and private capital markets businesses combined with blockchain, as a way to solve some of the issues faced by the industry.
- Tell us about the notable milestones in the company’s journey.
Aglaia Capital was born with a strong focus on traditional Corporate Finance, and on transactional technology for the financial industry with blockchain, and both have been evolving since inception.
On traditional Corporate Finance, we are focused on Hotels, Real Estate, and in Alternative financing, from simple to most complex situations, and from low to big sizes deals, and that activity will continue growing.
On Digital Assets, Blockchain Fintech and Tokenisations, we provide full advisory on Token generating events, and we are about to launch or own Platform, a compliant Permissioned Blockchain DeFi Platform for tokenisations, mainly for providing access to liquidity for alternative investments.
That will allow us to scale our business quicker, as well as will provide an efficient way of providing funding, or investments. Founded with the mission of contributing to transform the financial sector and alternative investments with Blockchain and Digital Assets, and with the values of innovation, sustainability, diversity, and impact.
- What is your opinion regarding the current landscape of the market your company caters to?
There is happening a transformation and an evolution of a new financial infrastructure with blockchain, and digital assets. That is creating a new transformed financial industry that is coexisting with the old one, and that it could be expected that will converge in the medium term. There will be an increase in efficiency and transparency as well as a transformation of the financial entities with a more predominant role of a Fintech approach.
I have been exploring emerging technologies and their application to the finance and financial industries in the last years. I founded my company and recently he Platform to contribute to the transformation of my industry, and in particular, of the private capital markets business with blockchain. Among others, the platform that we are about to launch will provide liquidity to the owners of assets, to digital assets issuers, as well as will provide a new way of investing for investors, and at the same time the opportunity of investing in the creation of a new financial infrastructure while making investments.
- How do you motivate your team to be innovative and productive at work?
This type of activity is a continue flow of new situations which is intensive in knowledge and resilience, and innovation and creativity are at the core acting as a natural fuel for its continuing development. Most of the Corporate Finance deals, and in particular, in the digital assets and Token generating events projects, as well as some of the Tokens require of a good dose of all of those traits. Having and share the same mission as well as the values behind are a powerful motivation. Imprint my vision on this industry, making a positive impact, diversity and sustainability are also at the ethos of Aglaia Capital since inception. Continuing evolving that vision is a motivation also itself.
- How do you maintain a productive work culture at a company while motivating your employees?
Innovation and Creativity are at the essence of Aglaia Capital, and its natural fuel for its continuing development. Most of the Corporate Finance deals, and in particular, digital assets and Token generating events projects, as well as the creation of the Tokens require of a good dose of both. I believe in diversity, developing the capacities and the natural traits of the team, and on consensus.
- What are your future plans for the company? Where do you see the company in the years to come?
Aglaia Capital is a new generation of Corporate Finance and Private Capital Markets combining the traditional discipline, with blockchain and digital assets, in particular security tokens. The traditional Corporate Finance and alternative investments and Digital will be evolving and complementing each other.
Our Platform for tokenisations Aglaia Capital DeFi Platform, a Permissioned Blockchain Platform deployed in the Ethereum Blockchain will be turning naturally a bigger part of the total business, that I will be continuing evolving according to my vision.
- What is your advice to the budding and aspiring entrepreneurs?
To follow their vision, and passion, and let them work their magic.
